Especially with PEEK or glass columns energy transfer for reaching elevated temperatures is a limiting factor for accurate temperature control. By heating eluents from ambient temperature to the desired temperature before entering the column the correct and well-controlled temperature can be guaranteed.
The Sykam S 4136 Eluent Heater with Column Oven is the ideal solution for efficient temperature control for preparative HPLC separations. Strictly spoken the S 4136 is not a column oven, since the core component of the system is a low voltage high power heating element transferring energy to a steel capillary with a 7.5 ml internal volume allowing flow rates of up to 250 ml/min and temperatures up to 100 °C. The system is completed with a column cabinet and a controller as an integrated table-top unit. The column cabinet acts as an isolating cabinet avoiding user contact during operation at high temperatures. For free and close to column placement of an eluent heater without the limitations of a column cabinet, we propose the Sykam S 4137 Eluent Heater. Eluent heating offers a more efficient and exact temperature control compared to electrical column sleeves.
